Dr. L. D. Britt, Eastern Virginia Medical School professor and lead investigator for a National Institutes of Health study on health disparities, updated our club about the state of healthcare in the United States, which is sixth in results compared with other first world countries. Outcomes largely depend upon patients' income and education levels. There are many challenges and opportunities but Dr. Britt is encouraged that a restructured healthcare system is obtainable.
