Meet Norfolk's new mayor and hear his plans for our city.

In July Kenneth C. "Kenny" Alexander was sworn in as Norfolk's first new mayor in 22 years and its first African American mayor. He is a Norfolk native who grew up in Berkley and South Norfolk. He  owns Metropolitan Funeral Home and has degrees from John Tyler Community College, Old Dominion University and Norwich University. He served in the Virginia House of Delegates for 10 years before becoming a four-year member of the Virginia Senate.

He has served as president of the Beacon Light Civic League, vice-chair of Norfolk's Planning Commission, and member of Norfolk's Human Service Commission and Economic Development Authority.
