2014 marked 100 years of The Rotary Club of Norfolk and our dedication to putting "Service Above Self".  To mark this milestone year, our club continued our commitment to serving the needs of the Greater Norfolk community.  We raised $100,000 for three Centennial projects -- funding of two Literacy and Technology Centers in Title 1 Norfolk Public Schools; a grant to enable the Boys & Girls Club to continue to operate the Calvert Square Club; and Rotary Smiles, a pilot program to provide dentures to those who are financially unable to afford them.

We started the year in December 2013 with a celebration of the meeting of five Norfolk businessmen in December 1914, which laid the groundwork for the founding of the club.

Three hundred people enjoyed our Centennial Gala, "Dancing Through The Decades," held May 3, 2014 at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott.  It was a special night filled with friendship, camaraderie  and, yes, dancing by both professionals and fun-loving club members and guests.

The Rotary Club of Norfolk would like to give a special thanks to Heritage Bank for serving as our Centennial Diamond Sponsor.

The club's Certificate of Incorporation was dated March 3, 1914, and the club was chartered on May 1, 1914 as Club
No. 114 by the International Association of Rotary Clubs.
